An All-Around Rockstar

Katharine Whalen’s life exists at the intersection of music, art, and community, each not as separate pursuits, but as deeply intertwined expressions of how she moves through the world. This project initially set out to explore her role as a musician, capturing her performances, rehearsals, and presence on stage. However, it quickly became clear that there was far more beneath the surface. What began as a focus on music evolved into a broader exploration of a woman who does not simply create art, but lives it in every environment she touches, someone who is not only a rockstar on stage, but a superstar in the way she shows up in every aspect of her daily life.

This body of work ultimately presents Katharine as more than a musician or artist. She is a conduit for community and emotion, someone who meets people exactly where they are and creates space for them to feel seen. Through documenting her daily rhythms, relationships, and creative practices, this project highlights a life guided intuition, care, and an unwavering commitment to creating.

I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Katharine for so warmly welcoming me into her life this past semester. Her love, energy, and passion have been truly inspiring, and I’ll carry that with me throughout my life.
